How Pipes Are Professionally Cleaned and Relined

New Home Digest

The video above delves into an approach to professionally clean and reline sewer drains, eliminating the necessity for extensive excavation. The reporter, a skilled plumber specializing in this method, showcases proficiency in pushing a blue tube through a defective sewage pipe using pressurized air. Through this procedure, a resilient new pipe is established within the pre-existing one, effectively resolving concerns of old pipes.

This approach to pipe relining proves to be quicker than traditional replacements, requiring only two workers to complete the job.

The process starts with inspecting the pipe’s interior using a tiny camera to identify any cracks or leaks. After assessment, the pipe is cleaned with water and a rotating chain to remove rust, dirt, hair, sewage, and oil buildup, restoring it to its original size.

The relining process involves measuring the pipe, cutting a piece of felt lining and filling it with epoxy resin to create a strong and chemical-resistant lining. The compressed lining is then shot into the old pipe, forming a new pipe inside it. After curing for four hours, the finished product can last over 50 years, twice as long as a new PVC pipe. This innovative method not only addresses sewer odors, slow drains, and constant clogs but also minimizes disruption and ensures a long-lasting solution to sewage pipe issues.
